Broken Spring Replacement
Broken torsion and extension springs replaced and the door rebalanced, so it lifts the way it should.
If your door suddenly feels like it weighs a ton, or the opener strains and gives up after a few inches, the most likely cause is a broken spring. They usually go with a bang, often on a cold morning.
The springs do the lifting, not the opener. A torsion spring on a double door is wound under enough tension to lift a few hundred pounds, which is why this is the one garage door job we would ask you not to try yourself. Please leave the door down and give us a call.
We replace the broken spring with one sized to your door's weight and height, check the cables and drums while we are up there, and rebalance the door. On a door with two springs it usually makes sense to replace both, since the other is the same age, and we will tell you which it is.
